Job Description / Statement of Duties

Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) is a public, independent College of art and design. The College’s academic and co-curricular programs prepare students from diverse backgrounds to participate in the creative economy as artists, designers, and educators, and to engage in the well-being of their society. As a national leader in visual art and design education, the College influences contemporary culture through the creative accomplishments of its students, alumni, faculty and staff.

MassArt is seeking an outgoing intern for an unpaid internship starting immediately. As a Human Resource Intern, you will develop knowledge about Human Resources through exposure to various areas (such as hiring, marketing, training & development). You will be responsible for researching ways the College can promote it’s visibility to potential applicants, especially those from underrepresented groups.

The College’s internship program is intended to provide interns the opportunity to practice business skills learned in school while gaining work experience in Human Resources. The intern will need to work directly with their academic institution, or department, to arrange this credit.

Your internship supervisor and the Human Resources team are always available to make sure you are benefiting from your experience.

Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with Human Resources Generalist and the Executive Director of Human Resources to complete various HR initiatives
2. Work with database (Colleague) to record professional development program attendance, certificates, and degrees
3. Assist with training program notifications and program registration
4. Create HR Library- Catalogue books, articles, etc
5. Research candidate sources at non-art college’s and develop contact information
6. Review, revise, update and assist with talent acquisition/recruiting sources and reporting
7. Develop a list of potential speakers for training the College could benefit from including staff and faculty
8. Work with Executive Director on E911 telecommunications project
9. Work with HR operations to create flyers, posters, etc.
10. Review and prepare meeting minutes
11. Other duties as assigned

Office hours are Monday – Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm. Work hours are flexible and will be discussed during the interview, preferably three (3) consecutive days.

You will be required to submit an internship summary report of your experience, your findings and recommendations for future improvements/implementations.

Required Minimum Qualifications

• Undergraduate working towards a bachelor’s degree or graduate student
• 1+ years of professional experience working in a team-oriented environment
• Strong communication, analytical, organization, customer service and project management skills
• Excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment and confidentiality
• Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

• Human Resources or Management majors preferred
• Experience in Human Resources/administrative setting
• Strong interpersonal, collaboration, written/verbal communications and organization skills
• Marketing and web design experience , to create flyers, posters, invitations, etc
• Experience with Google platforms ( Google sheets, forms, docs, etc.)
